According to PEI’s Regulated Health Professions Act, you must be entitled to work in Canada and have reasonable proficiency in written and spoken English (in accordance with the Act’s General Regulations) in order to work in a regulated health profession. In addition, you must meet all of the education, examination, and professional practice currency requirements contained in the Massage Therapy Regulations. You must also be in good standing with any health regulatory bodies (where applicable). You must not be found guilty of an offence and/or not be the subject of any investigation or discipline by a professional regulatory body, that would make you unsuitable for practice in a regulated profession.
Massage Therapy Education – there are no massage therapy certificate or degree programs offered in Prince Edward Island. To become a massage therapist and register in PEI, you will need to have:
- Successfully completed a post secondary diploma or certificate in massage therapy within the last 3 years (minimum 2200-hour program)
- Successfully completed an exam from a regulated body for massage therapy (currently available in BC, Ontario, NB or NFLD)
